Woman Altered Check From Long Valley School, Police Say

A woman from the Bronx in New York was charged on Thursday in connection with an altered check that was written by West Morris Central High School, according to the Washington Township Detective Bureau. The woman, who has not been identified publicly, intercepted the check, which was intended to pay for a sporting event in New York, and changed the amount from $350 to $4,800, according to police.

Beloved Founding Member Of Valley View Chapel Dies In Long Valley

Douglas Richard Carter, 80, passed away suddenly, into the presence of the Lord, on June 29, 2022. He was a resident of Long Valley for 48 years. Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a man after God's own heart and his life was a testimony to it. Doug was born October 17, 1941, to Robert and Florence Carter and grew up in Maplewood, NJ with his sister Barbara Ann. In addition to being an Eagle Scout, Doug earned the God and Country Award through the Boy Scouts of America.

Long Valley Officials Assist In Hiker Rescue At Stevens State Park

Long Valley First Aid Squad members were called in to help with a dispatch call for an injured hiker in Stevens State Park on the afternoon of July 1, according to officials. The injured hiker was removed safely without incident and taken to a nearby hospital after two and a half hours of emergency personnel working, according to the Budd Lake Fire Department.

NJ Sex Education Curriculum Modified By Washington Township Schools

Superintendent Peter Turnamian responded to Long Valley parents' concerns about the implementation of certain sex education curriculum standards for grades K-8 in Washington Township schools. At the June meeting of the Washington Township Board of Education, members approved revisions to the Comprehensive Health and Physical Education curriculum for grades 6–8, which included information on parental rights and the district's opt-out policy.

'The Moving Wall' Replica Of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Coming To CCM

The County College of Morris (CCM) and volunteer groups have worked tirelessly to prepare the site for The Moving Wall, which will be displayed on campus to honor Vietnam veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Residents of Morris County and beyond can view a half-scale replica of Washington, D.C.'s Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which will be on display from July 7 to 11 on CCM's campus at 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph, near parking lot 1.

Fatal Car Crash In Morris Co. Remains Under Investigation
A Stanhope man was killed Thursday afternoon after running off a highway ramp and crashing into multiple trees in Morris County, according to state police. Luke Muller, 32, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix on the Route 206 south ramp to Interstate 80 east in Mount Olive when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and crashed into several trees, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota. Authorities were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. where they found the motorist suffered fatal injuries in the crash, Slota said.

A Morris County resident recently won $1,000 a week for the rest of their life after playing the New Jersey Lottery's Cash4Life game, lottery officials said. The lucky ticket was purchased at Buy Rite Liquors, 286 Route 206, Flanders and matched the five white balls drawn for the Friday, July 1, drawing winning the $1,000 a week for life second-tier prize.

Do You Know Him? Morris Co. Police Need Help Identifying Theft Suspect
Residents are being asked by the Morris County Sheriff's CrimeStoppers to assist in identifying this man, who is a suspect in a string of burglaries, according to police. Police claim that between 7:30 p.m. on June 29 and 2 a.m. on June 30, a suspect used a tool to pry open doors and entered a series of office and commercial buildings. According to authorities, the suspect either covered or switched off surveillance cameras while inside the office.
