Woman Punched On Way Home From Maplewood Train Station In Robbery Attempt: Police
A woman said she was punched in an attempted robbery on the way home from the Maplewood Train Station Sunday night.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — In the latest robbery attempt in Maplewood, a woman told police she was punched late Sunday night while walking home from the Maplewood train station.
Police said that at 11:40 p.m. Sunday night, the woman, 42, called 911 and said that 20 minutes earlier, a black SUV had pulled up to her at the intersection of North Terrace and Edgewood Place.
The woman told police that a passenger got out of the vehicle and pushed her to the ground. The man then "attempted to pull her pocketbook from her shoulder as he punched her several times," according to police. "The victim refused to release her belongings and the suspect gave up and ran back to an awaiting vehicle."

Nothing was reported taken from the woman, and she declined medical attention, police said.
Police said the suspect was described as "a black male approximately 5’10 in height wearing dark clothing and covering his face with a black scarf."

The SUV was last seen traveling Northbound on North Terrace towards Parker Avenue, police said.
