Bayshore Fishing Derby Will Be June 2

Held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Bayshore Waterfront Park, this derby is open to beginners as well as experienced anglers. $8 per person.

PORT MONMOUTH, NJ — Get hooked on fishing when the Monmouth County Park System hosts its annual Bayshore Fishing Derby next weekend at Bayshore Waterfront Park!

The popular fishing derby will again be held at Port Monmouth Road in Port Monmouth. Held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, this derby is open to beginners as well as experienced anglers. Park system staff will be on hand to teach those just getting started how to rig and cast their poles. The event will also feature seining demonstrations.

The cost to enter the derby is $8 per person; $4 per additional person. Pre-registration is accepted online at www.MonmouthCountyParks.com or by calling 732-842-4000, ext. 1. Onsite registration is by cash or check only.

Participants must supply their own fishing poles, tackle and bait. Those competing must fish from the beach. Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish in three different age categories.
