Middletown Man, 62, Identified As Pedestrian Killed Tuesday Night

A local Middletown man has been identified as the person struck and killed Tuesday evening by a car at Hwy. 35 and Navesink River Road.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A local 62-year-old Middletown man has been identified as the person struck and killed Tuesday evening by a car at the intersection of Hwy. 35 and Navesink River Road.

The pedestrian has been identified by Middletown Police as William McAvoy, 62, of Middletown.

He was hit specifically while in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 35 at Navesink River Road at approximately 7:53 p.m. Tuesday, April 6.

McAvoy died at the scene as a result of his injuries, said Middletown Twp. Police.

The driver remained at the scene and charges have not been filed.
