HIGHLANDS, NJ — Update: As of 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sandy Hook has reopened.

Gateway National Park/Sandy Hook unit is temporarily closed Monday morning due to a power/sewer issue, the National Park Service reports.

Power is not completely out at the park; it has limited power. However, the lift stations are not working, so the sewers are not working.

The park is working with the area's local electric provider, Jersey City Power & Light, to try and resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The National Park Service hopes to reopen Sandy Hook by Monday afternoon.

Sandy Hook is a federal park, similar to Yosemite or Glacier National Park, and is operated by the National Park Service.
