Democrats Set To Take Control Of Moorestown Council Monday Night

The annual reorganization meeting is set for 7 p.m. at town hall, 111 West Second Street.

MOORESTOWN, NJ - Democrats are set to take the majority of seats on Moorestown Council when the township reorganizes on Monday, Jan. 7. The annual reorganization meeting is set for 7 p.m. at town hall, 111 West Second Street.

During the meeting, Nicole Gillespie and Brian Donnelly will be sworn into office. They defeated Manny Delgado and Jamie Boren in November’s elections. Read more here: Democrats Capture Seats, Shift Power On Moorestown Council

In securing the win, Gillespie and Donnelly completely flipped the power on council, as there are now three Democrats and two Republicans in place. Before the election, there were four Republicans on council. Lisa Petriello was the lone Democrat on the five-member governing body.
Republicans Victoria Napolitano and Mike Locatell continue to hold their seats on council.

When council reorganizes, it is possible that Democrats could gain both the mayor and deputy mayor seats. As of now, Kevin Aberant is the only Democrat to ever hold the mayor’s seat in Moorestown. He was mayor from 2005-08.
