Moorestown Moving Forward With Water Main Replacements
Council unanimously approved an ordinance on second reading calling for the replacements Monday night.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown will move forward on the replacement of numerous water mains throughout the township following a unanimous vote by council Monday night.
Council approved a proposed ordinance on second reading to appropriate $600,000, including borrowing $570,000 in bonds or notes, for the replacement of water mains with a 5-0 vote at its July 10 meeting at town hall.
Water main replacements would take place in the following locations:

- North Church Street, from Main Street to Third Street;
- Prospect Avenue, from South Third Street to High Street;
- South Washington Avenue;
- West Second Street, from Locust to Camden;
- Mannion Avenue; and
- Fairview Avenue, from Third Street to Kettleworth.
The portion of Second Street that intersects with Camden Avenue will also be resurfaced, Township Manager Tom Merchel said at the June 26 meeting. The township has already received bids, and work is expected to begin by the end of the summer.
On Monday night, Merchel said any resurfacing associated with the project would be done in full. After the mains are replaced, it takes about 60 days to let the road settle before the resurfacing phase can begin.
