Moorestown Republicans Endorse Delgado, Boren For Council
Manny Delgado and Jamie Boren are running for two open, four-year seats on Moorestown Council.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A few days after Moorestown Mayor Stacey Jordan announced she wouldn’t seek re-election this year, the Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee unanimously endorsed Deputy Mayor Manny Delgado and Jamie Boren as its candidates for two open, four-year seats on township council.
“After conducting a lengthy series of interviews with a number of impressive and immensely qualified candidates, we are thrilled to announce the Delgado/Boren ticket as our choice to represent our ideas and ideals at the ballot box this November,” said Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee member Judd Van Dervort, who led the Candidate Screening Committee for the 2018 election cycle. “Manny and Jamie are both involved parents who are passionate advocates for Moorestown’s families. They believe strongly in our hometown ideals of fiscal responsibility, community, and efficient government, and will be excellent stewards for our Township.”
“Manny Delgado has been a true asset to Moorestown both in his role on TownCouncil and as a leader in our community. His efforts to hold the line on taxes,solve our town’s water issues, advocate for a sustainable, manageable number ofunits in the affordable housing fight, and put Moorestown first have earned him oursupport for a second term,” Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee Chairman Steve Solomon said. “Coupled with the lifelong connection to our community and breadth of experience Jamie Boren will deliver to the ticket, I am confident that the people of Moorestown will agree they will be well-represented with these two candidates on the Town Council.”

Jordan announced Friday morning that she wouldn’t seek re-election after serving on council for eight years. Jordan and Delgado ran together in 2014, when Delgado was elected to council for the first time.
Moorestown Democrats have already endorsed Nicole Gillespie and Brian Donnelly in this year's elections. The deadline to file petitions in the primaries is April 2. The primary elections and the deadline to file petitions to run as independent or third-party candidates is June 5. The general elections are set for Nov. 6.

Delgado and his wife, Amy, moved to Moorestown over a decade ago, and are raising four children together. He was elected Moorestown’s first mayor of hispanic descent by the other members of council in a unanimous vote in 2017.
In a release issued over the weekend the Moorestown Republican Municipal Committee pointed to Delgado’s efforts to hold the line on taxes while maintaining a strong surplus, invest in key infrastructure and water treatment projects, fight against outside interests seeking to build unsustainable levels of affordable housing in our community, and make local government more transparent and accessible to residents during his time in office. Delgado has an extensive background in community development organizations and currently serves as the Chief Operations Officer for the LEAP Academy University School in Camden.
In his position, he seeks to enhance opportunities for children and families through the collaborative design, implementation, and integration of education, health, and human services programs and through community development. He serves as the Council liaison to the Environmental Advisory Committee, Low and Moderate Income Housing Oversight Committee, Lenola Ad Hoc Committee, and Recreation Advisory Committee. Additionally, he serves as a Trustee for Moorestown Youth Baseball, Team Captain for Relay for Life of Moorestown, and is a baseball, basketball, and football coach.
Boren owns Ralph’s Market on Main Street with her husband and high school sweetheart, Zach. She is a lifelong resident. She serves as President of the Moorestown Youth Softball Association and Fire Police Captain with the Lenola Volunteer Fire Company. She is a member of the Moorestown Zoning Board, the Moorestown Ethical Standards Board and the Moorestown Business Association, and is a parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she teaches CCD.
Boren is an active mom in the Moorestown Home and School Association, serving this year as Fingerprinting Chair at Roberts, Ice Cream Social Chair for UES-4, and as a Room Parent. Boren is the Chair and Co-Founder of the Lenola Advisory Committee, through which which she assisted in securing a $1 million federal grant for Moorestown to begin improvements in the Lenola Town Center/Camden Avenue corridor.
Her grandfather, Moorestown Citizen of the Year Walter Maahs, served as Mayor from 1988-1996. Her mother, Cindi Maahs-Knobbs, is serving in her first elected term on the Board of Fire Commissioners.
Boren and her husband are raising their three children in Lenola, the section of town where she grew up.
