PARAMUS, N.J. — Police charged an inmate at the Bergen County Jail with a Sycamore Street burglary from 2015 after authorities matched DNA evidence found at the home to him.

Derek Edwards, 60, of Teaneck, was charged after the New Jersey State Police Crime Lab matched DNA evidence found at the home to Edwards, said Paramus Police Chief Kenneth R. Ehrenberg.

Police responded to a Sycamore Street home after a burglary was reported there on June 23, 2015. The house was entered through a side door while the residents were not at home, Ehrenberg said.

Edwards was charged with burglary several times in 2015 and is currently housed in the Bergen County Jail. His bail was set at $150,000 after he was arrested and processed at the jail, police said.
