Got candy? Instead of throwing it out or eating it all, bring your treats to Twinkle Little Star Pediatric Dentistry located on 259 Kinderkamack Road in Westwood. The office is participating in the Halloween Candy BuyBack program again this year and will pay children $1 for every pound of candy they bring in to participating dentist offices. All candies are then shipped to Operation Gratitude for Holiday Care Packages for troops overseas.
Through Collection Drives, Letter Writing Campaigns, Craft Projects and Donations of funds for shipping expenses, Operation Gratitude provides civilians anywhere in America a way to express their respect and appreciation to the men and women of the U.S. Military in an active, hands-on manner. Operation Gratitude is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, volunteer-based corporation, funded entirely by private donations. For safety and security, the assembling of all packages occurs at the Army National Guard Armory in Van Nuys, California. To date, over 985,000 care packages have been sent to troops overseas, and its One Millionth Care Package will be sent on December 7, 2013.
