IHA Senior Will Continue Running
Erin Thompson of Washington Township has signed a letter of intent to run at Marist College this fall
Erin Thompson runs cross country, winter track and spring track for the and will be continuing her track career at Marist College.
Thompson does not have a preference on what she runs, but considers both of her specialty races to be different.
“I don’t have a favorite race because I like the mile and two mile the same,” said Thompson. “My best mile time is a 5:06 and my best two mile time is an 11:05. Both races are very different but I like them equally the same.”

Thompson hasn’t surpassed her personal goals, but the team is doing well this season and that is what is most important to her. Thompson has also reflected on some moments that she will keep with her as she enters the next stage of her life and track career.
“One of my track standout performances was when I won the mile at Bergen Meet of Champs,” she said. “This was a big race for me because I finally achieved my personal best, 5:06.”
Thompson, who resides in Washington Township, has earned many awards including Big North All-League Honors, BCWCA All County Honors and The Star Ledger All Non-Public Honors Third Team. Awards like these and team success out on the track make it all worth it.
“It definitely is a great feeling knowing your hard work pays off when you achieve your goals,” Thompson said.
When Thompson isn’t running, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends. Spending time with the ones she loves is something she said she values greatly.
