IHA Swings Into 3rd Round
Blue Eagles make short work of Park Ridge with an 8-0 win in the 2nd round of the Bergen County Softball Championship Tournament.
Coming off an impressive 15-win season, the Immaculate Heart Academy Blue Eagles headed into the Bergen County Softball Championship Tournament as the number 2 seed. Making short work of Bergenfield in the opening round, the Eagles entered Saturday’s showdown with Park Ridge ready to prove they deserved their high ranking.
Mission accomplished. Led by the bat of centerfielder Rachel Pollard, who went 2-4 with a triple and a double and one RBI, the Eagles opened up an early 2-0 lead and never looked back en route to the 8-0 romp.
Pitcher Steph Thomas tossed six shutout innings with eight strikeouts for the win. Adding six more runs off the bats of Carly Peavich and Ali Vergona, IHA cruised into the third round of the tournament, whre they will meet Ramapo High School.
