Township Football Player Selected for Team New Jersey

Vincent Karabatsos will begin playing in the Football University National Championship Nov. 26

Vincent Karabatsos of Washington Township has been selected to play for Team New Jersey which will participate in the Football University National Championship. Vincent just completed his final season for the Washington Township Falcons under Coach Scott Spezial. The first round is set for Saturday, Nov. 26 at Morris Catholic located in Denville.

Call it "November Madness" or the football version of the Little League World Series. Whatever the terminology, this fall's inaugural, 32-team Football University National Championship will provide all of the drama of "March Madness" with the promise of naming a true national champion in youth football. The teams are composed of the top 35 athletes from each state. Kids are identified through FBU's network of state tournament directors, the more than 40 FBU camps in various U.S. cities, through the nominations for the Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl games, and through those nominated on the tournament's page located at www.footballuniversity.org.

The FBU National Championship begins Thanksgiving weekend and is five rounds long and features 32 state-based teams. The first three rounds will take place at regional sites and the semifinals and finals will take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, following the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. The winner will be able to lay claim as the nation's top eighth grade team.
