For eight years I have had issues with my mail arriving opened and/or tampered with. Last week, on one particular day, ALL of my home mail, consisting of four Christmas cards, arrived completely torn open and delivered to me in this fashion.
Most recently, my final Christmas delivery, consisting of a box delivered from amazon.com, arrived not only undone, but literally with the box left OPEN. I happened to hear the postal worker at the door as I usually do and watched him walk away as I stood there, package in hand, flap and mouth hanging opened.
I have complained twice over the years, which yielded nothing. My neighbor, a Third Street resident in the same home for 15 or so years describes the same problem. "I complained a few times, too," he said. "It doesn't change. Nothing happens. What can you do?"

I can write about it. That's what I can do.

Another business has closed its doors, Mountain House Pizza at 284 Center Ave. But a new business has thankfully cropped up pretty quickly in its stead. The Mountain House fared well enough with its pizza but worse, unfortunately, for its not-so-wonderful everything else.
Incoming: BIBI'Z LOUNGE, which looks, so far peeking in from the outside, to be the kind of lounge you'd like to find in Westwood: not the over-commitment of a place in midtown Manhattan, but just the right Westwoodian sophistication in the kind of lounge the area could use. No word on the actual opening, though it must be soon judging by the "help wanted" ads they've got up on Craigslist.

GOLDBERG'S BAGELS: MOMENTOUS RELOCATION
After 40 years of service on Broadway in Westwood, Goldberg's Bagels is moving to a bigger location right around the block, on Westwood Avenue. The new space offers eat-in dining, state-of-the-art equipment and far more square footage than the previous locale. The new store is near completion and should be opening soon.
