Trio Facing Charges in Assault of Woman Left on Southern State
Police release new details in assault that occurred last month.

Three people have now been arrested and charged following an incident last month in which an assault victim was left on the side of the Southern State Parkway, State Police said Tuesday.
According to police, the victim and Antoine Smiley were visiting the West Babylon home of Shavonne White and Justin Mickens on Oswego Road on April 27 when an argument ensued. All four people then got into Smiley’s 2012 Dodge Avenger, police said.
When they got to Bay Shore, police say Smiley stopped the vehicle and “violently assaulted” the victim. He then forced the woman back into the car and drove off, police said.

According to witnesses, the victim was then pushed from the car at Exit 37N-Belmont Avenue–on the Southern State, police said. A passerby called 911 and officers found the victim seriously injured on the shoulder.
Smiley 38, was arrested three days later and faces felony charges of assault, robbery and criminal contempt. Smiley had been on parole for an attempted assault conviction, authorities said.
