Fifth-graders at Shore Road School in Bellmore demonstrated their scientific knowledge, displayed their creativity and showcased demonstrations for visitors at the annual fifth-grade science fair on Feb. 25.
The talented young student-scientists received certificates of excellence for their work, which included studies on whether vegetables sink or float, optical illusions and what materials make the best parachutes.
As a special collaboration with the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, science research science research students from John F. Kennedy High School were on hand, dressed in long white coats, to examine the projects and view demonstrations.
