Chappaqua Voters To Decide On 2018-19 School Budget

District officials also want to create a Buildings and Facilities Improvement Reserve Fund.​

CHAPPAQUA, NY — Voters in the Chappaqua school district will be going to the polls Tuesday, May 15 to have their say on the budget for the 2018-19 school year. Also on the ballot are the Chappaqua Public Library budget, the election of one board of education member and one library trustee, and a proposition that would allow district officials to establish a Buildings and Facilities Improvement Reserve Fund.

The proposed spending package is $122,559,988, up 2.5 percent from the current year. The tax levy increase is 2.1 percent, under the state's property tax cap.

School officials said highlights of the spending plan include innovative spaces at all schools to improve STEAM education; and additional coaching and security staff at Horace Greeley High School.

School trustees are asking voters to authorize the district to establish a capital reserve fund up to $10 million.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the gym at HGHS.
