Cops: Trio Found with 85 Stolen Credit Cards in Lawrence

Three women caught using re-encoded card at a Five Towns McDonald's, police said.

Three women were found with dozens of fraudulent credit cards after using them to buy food at several Lawrence restaurants, according to Nassau County Police.

Major Case detectives charged Joycelyn Kumi, 19, of Rosedale, Taquana Potter, 21, of Yonkers, and Teshona Peets-Butcher, 19, of Uniondale, after a report of a fraud in progress at McDonald’s, cops said.

According to detectives, the trio went to Subway, Chipotle, and other restaurants to buy food using fraudulent cards before they were caught at McDonald’s. Fourth Precinct officers responded to the Rockaway Turnpike eatery and took the three into custody without incident, cops said.

The trio had 85 fraudulent cards that had been re-encoded and had an encoder device with them at the time of their arrests, police said.

Kumi was charged with 12 counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. Potter was charged with seven counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of marijuana. Peets-Butcher was charged with five counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument. All three will be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
