Voter's Guide: Glen Cove School Budget, Board Election

What you need to know for Tuesday's vote.

Glen Cove residents will vote on the school district’s $82,486,118 proposed budget for the 2015-16 school year on Tuesday, May 19.

The proposal calls for a 4.04 percent increase in spending over the current year and carries a 2.04 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state’s tax cap. If approved, eligible Glen Cove School District taxpayers will receive a rebate check from the state for the amount of this year’s school tax increase, creating a 0 percent net tax impact on this year’s budget, according to New York State. Eligibility is determined by the state.
