Gunman Ties Up Workers, Robs Long Island Tanning Salon

At least eight other similar robberies have occurred across Long Island over the past few months.

Detectives are investigating a Friday, Dec. 4 robbery in Huntington Station similar in nature to numerous others that have occurred over the past few months: an armed man enters a women-centric store on Long Island, ties up employees and steals cash.

According to authorities, a man wearing a scarf and a hat entered Beach Bum Tanning, located at 333 E. Jericho Turnpike, forced two workers into the rear of the store and restrained them while he removed cash from the drawers at 8:30 p.m.

No customers were in the tanning salon at the time of the robbery and the two employees were not injured.

Police described the robber as black, between 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall, with a thin to medium build.

At least eight similar robberies have occurred in Nassau and Suffolk since September. Seven of the robberies occurred at women’s clothing stores and the latest robbery occurred at a home decor store:

No arrests have been made in any of these robberies.
