Huntington Hospital Recognized for Improving Lives of Stroke Patients
The hospital is among 11 North Shore-LIJ Hospitals recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

Huntington Hospital is among 11 North Shore-LIJ Hospitals that were recently recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for treating and caring for stroke patients.
The hospitals qualified for the “Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award” by working reduce death and disability among stroke patients through using aggressive forms of medications.
The staff at North Shore-LIJ Hospitals is “committed to providing care that has been clinically proven to quickly and efficiently treat stroke patients and save lives,” said Souhel Najjar, MD, senior vice president and executive director of North Shore-LIJ’s neurology service line.

The following hospitals received the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award:
- Forest Hills Hospital
- Franklin Hospital
- Glen Cove Hospital
- Huntington Hospital
- Lenox Hill Hospital
- LIJ Medical Center
- North Shore University Hospital
- Plainview Hospital
- Southside Hospital
- Staten Island University Hospital
- Syosset Hospital
Forest Hills Hospital and North Shore University Hospital earned “Target: Stroke-Elite Plus” honor roll status, which is an additional campaign to help improve outcomes of ischemic stroke patients.

Plainview Hospital, Southside Hospital and Syosset Hospital received “Target: Stroke Elite” honor roll status.
Glen Cove Hospital, Huntington Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, LIJ Medical Center and Staten Island University Hospital received “Target: Stroke Honor Roll” recognition.
Stroke teams at North Shore-LIJ hospitals are available 24 hours a day to help assess and treat stroke patients, the hospital said.
