• Adventureland Awards $65K In Scholarships To 13 Long Island Students (patch.com) — Two students from East Islip are among 13 Long Island scholars sharing $65,000 in awards from Adventureland's Helping Hands Foundation, giving a local boost to their college costs. The Farmingdale fundraiser drew thousands and raised nearly half a million dollars more for future scholarships and community causes that will continue supporting families in and around Islip. 
• Brookhaven Officials Call On MTA To Address Traffic Woes In Mastic-Shirley (patch.com) — Traffic and safety concerns on the LIRR's Mastic-Shirley crossings are prompting Brookhaven officials to press the MTA for fixes, and their push ties into a wider study that includes a grade crossing in Central Islip. With federal funding already earmarked to examine several Long Island crossings, any changes could eventually affect how Islip-area drivers move around the region.
