Up to 2 Inches of Snow Expected in Kings Park This Week

You probably won’t need to break out the shovels, but there is a decent chance of accumulating snow on Long Island late Wednesday into Thursday, according to the latest National Weather Service forecast.

The forecast currently calls for a chance of snow during the day Wednesday, with snow then likely Wednesday night into the early morning hours of Thursday. Accumulation of 1-2 inches is the most likely scenario for the island, the NWS says.

“A major winter storm will not develop, but enough snow will fall to cause headaches for travelers and potential interruptions to daily routines for residents,” according to AccuWeather.com.

  • Tuesday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. West wind 9 to 11 mph.
  • Tuesday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.
  • Wednesday- A chance of snow, mainly after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 20 and 30. Northeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Wednesday Night- Snow likely, mainly after 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 24. Northeast wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
  • Thursday- A chance of snow, mainly before 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
  • Thursday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22.
  • Friday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 33.
