DA: Nassau to Auction 13 Forfeited Cars

Online auction is set for Wednesday , officials said.

Nassau County will auction off 13 cars Wednesday that were seized by police through the Civil Forfeiture Bureau, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.

The vehicles, which will be sold in an online auction on Copart.com, were forfeited by defendants convicted of DWI, selling drugs, grand larceny, robbery, and other crimes.

Proceeds from the auction will go to toward paying restitution to victims of crimes and to fund anti-drug and crime reduction programs in the state and county, the DA said.

“Auctions like these provide valuable funding for programs to reduce crime and drug use in Nassau County, and have the added benefit of removing vehicles used in the commission of crimes from offenders and making them available to Long Islanders in need of affordable vehicles,” Acting DA Madeline Singas said.
