Girl, 6, Dies From Injuries In Crash Near Sunrise Mall In Massapequa: Police

Four people, including three children, have died as a result of the driving while ability impaired-related crash, Nassau police said.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Nassau police say a six-year-old girl is the latest victim to die from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash last Sunday near Sunrise Mall in Massapequa that has claimed the lives of four people.

Police said Saturday morning that Chantel Solomon, 6, of Uniondale succumbed to her injuries.
Three members of a family died in the crash, including Patrice Huntley, 60, of Flushing, andUniondale residents Jeremiah Huntley, 10, and Hannah Huntley, 13, police said.

After the crash, a total of five people were injured in the crash, with two in critical, unstable condition, two listed in stable condition, and one treated and released, according to police.

A speeding vehicle driven by Michael Deangelo, 32, of Lindenhurst, crashed with three other vehicles at around 7:21 p.m., according to police. Deangelo was charged Friday with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, three counts of second-degree manslaughter, and six counts of second-degree assault.

He was additionally charged with two counts of driving while ability impaired and two counts of thrird-degree assault, and arraigned at his bedside in the hospital Friday, police said.

His arraignment information was not available.
