A Merrick man was charged Wednesday with stealing thousands of dollars using a friend’s debit card, according to Nassau County Police.
Matthew Leone, 32, took a debit card from a 68-year-old male acquaintance, cops said. Between January and March, Leone made several withdrawals worth a total of $17,000 from the victim’s account, police said.
Detectives investigated the thefts and charged Leone with third-degree grand larceny. He will be charged Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
