Police ID Man Who Died After Being Struck By Train In Freeport

The man was struck by the train at 3:53 p.m. last Wednesday afternoon, police say.

FREEPORT, NY — Police confirmed the identity Tuesday night of the man struck by a train in Freeport last Wednesday, police said.

Trains were delayed and canceled Wednesday just before rush hour after a westbound train from Babylon to Grand Central struck the man while he was on the tracks without authorization to be there, police said. Previously, police had identified the man only as a man in his 20s, saying he had been hit at 3:53 p.m. in an incident where police said no criminality was suspected.

MTA police confirmed to Patch Tuesday that the man was 27-year-old Michael Foster, a Valley Stream resident, saying he was pronounced dead on arrival at the scene by a Northwell Health EMS.
