Police: Ridge Man Arrested For Driving on Drugs With 9-Month-Old Child in His Car
Man drove through a stop sign and almost crashed into a police car, police say.

A Ridge man was arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs with his girlfriend’s 9-month-old child in the car in Shirley on Tuesday night, according to Suffolk County Police.
Wilfredo Figueroa, 21, was driving a 2001 Ford Focus southbound on Puritan Avenue with the child and two other passengers in his car, according to police.
At the intersection of Moriches Middle Island Road, he drove through a stop sign and almost hit an unmarked patrol car, police said.

Police found that Figueroa was under the influence of drugs and he was arrested, according to police.
He charged with aggravated driving while impaired by drugs with a child passenger 15 years old or younger under–a felony under Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child, fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Figueroa was being held at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
