Update: Body Found Near Wantagh LIRR
Man's body discovered under the train platform Sunday morning.
The body of a man was found under the platform of Wantagh Long Island Rail Road station Sunday morning, Metropolitan Transit Authority officials said Monday.
At 7:25 a.m., a conductor was driving a train east and preparing to stop at the Wantagh station when he spotted a body “lying partially underneath the platform, in close proximity to the running rails,” according to MTA Police.
Off-duty MTA police were on the train and, after securing the scene and shutting down power, confirmed the victim was dead, officials said.

Investigators said the victim was found lying face down near Track 2 and did not appear to have any injuries related to being struck by a train.
The victim, about 50 years old, has not yet been identified, cops said.

Medical examiners are still investigating and have not yet confirmed the man’s cause of death.
The investigation is ongoing.
