Police: Sound Beach Man Arrested on Drug, Weapon Charges

Detectives execute a search warrant following complaints of drug dealing at a home, police say.

A Sound Beach man was arrested on Friday morning after police found an assortment of drugs and a baton inside his home, police said.

According to police, Suffolk County Police Narcotics detectives, Seventh Precinct detectives and Emergency Service officers executed a narcotics search warrant at 10 Sunnyside Drive at about 7:55 a.m. in response to numerous community complaints of drug dealing at the residence.

Detectives found Thomas Balzarano to be in possession of heroin, oxycodone, roxycodone, carisoprodol, alprazolam, clonazepam, suboxone and a baton, police said.

Balzarano was charged with two counts of third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, six counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Balzarano will be held overnight at the 7th Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
