She threw the gourd in the conductor's face after a train fare dispute, causing injuries under the eye that required stitches.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A pumpkin-wielding passenger who police say seriously hurt a Metro-North conductor in Mount Vernon will go to prison.
Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah and MTA Chief of Police John Mueller announced on Thursday that a Bronx woman was sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a Metro-North Railroad conductor with a pumpkin.
"Today’s sentence holds the defendant accountable for violently attacking an essential worker who was simply doing her job," Rocah said. "We thank the MTA Police Department for their collaboration on this case."

23-year-old Alexis Adams pleaded guilty last month to felony assault in the second degree. In addition to her jail sentence, she will be subject to three years of post-release supervision.
"Any attack against an MTA worker is unacceptable, and this case demonstrates again that perpetrators of such assaults will face justice," Mueller said. "We are grateful to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office for ensuring successful prosecution and for its continuing collaboration to protect Metro-North employees who are serving the public."

On Oct. 11, 2021, at around 6 p.m., Adams, following an argument over the train fare, struck the conductor in the face with a pumpkin before fleeing the train at the Mount Vernon West station, leaving behind her purse and IDs. The conductor was then taken to the hospital where she was treated for lacerations around her eye and ear, caused by the stem of the pumpkin.
Adams was arrested by the MTA Police Department a short time later.
