Wrong-Way Parkway Driver Indicted
He collided head-on with an SUV carrying six people who were visiting from Florida. Two of them sustained serious physical injuries.

Charged in February with DWI, reckless driving and vehicular assault, a wrong-way driver now faces more charges. A Westchester grand jury handed down an indictment charging Diego Caceres with:
- Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a class C felony
- Vehicular Assault in the First Degree, a class D felony
- 2 counts of Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree, class E felonies
- 2 counts of Driving While Intoxicated, misdemeanors
- DWAI Combined Drugs and Alcohol, a misdemeanor
- Reckless Driving, a misdemeanor
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a misdemeanor
Announcing the indictment Wednesday, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. alleged that at 3:13 a.m. Feb. 9, 2018, Caceres drove the wrong way in the northbound lane of the Bronx River Parkway. He was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. At the DeWitt Avenue Bridge in Yonkers, his 2012 Nissan Murano collided head-on with an oncoming Dodge SUV carrying six people who were visiting from Florida. Two of them sustained serious physical injuries which required hospitalization.
Members of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety arrested Caceres at the scene. He was arraigned while still hospitalized.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 21.
This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Joseph Servino of the Career Criminal Bureau.
