From an annual toy drive to writing letters to servicemen and women abroad, Northport-East Northport students are volunteering their time.
The students brought in brown paper bags filled with non-perishable food items to donate to Long Island Cares Inc. in Huntington Station.
"Kaitlyn Berger and Austin Neuff have gone above and beyond in their commitment to their sport and their school," the district wrote.
Maureen Edwards raised the money through a virtual New York City marathon. She is a Norwood Avenue elementary school music teacher.
The private Instagram account "Northport Confessions," which features videos of students fighting, is being investigated by the district.
The student hasn't been in the building since Sept. 17, but they may have had close contact with others over the weekend, the district says.
