Softball Team Sex Abuse: Former Nyack College Coach Indicted
Fired in March and arrested in April, Kurt Ludwigsen now faces seven felony counts.

A grand jury in Rockland County has indicted a former girls’ softball coach on seven felony counts of coercion as well as midemeanors and violations.
Kurt Ludwigsen of New Jersey was fired in March from his job at Nyack College and arrested in April.
The incidents including touching breasts and buttocks and unwanted kissing; and an implied perception that anyone who complained could suffer repercussions made things tough for the members of the team, according to South Nyack-Grandview Police Chief Brent Newbury.

The defendant was indicted on June 25, 2015 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crimes of Coercion in the 1st Degree (7 Counts), Forcible Touching (94 Counts), Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree (94 Counts) and Harassment in the 2nd Degree (2 Counts).
District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about and between February of 2014 and March of 2015, the defendant, a former women’s softball coach at Nyack College in Nyack has been indicted with touching the sexual or intimate parts of various members of the softball team without their consent. The allegations were reported to the school administration and Ludwigsen was dismissed.
On April 9, 2015, Ludwigsen was arrested and charged with numerous misdemeanors and violations relating to his conduct. The Rockland County Grand Jury, while indicting Ludwigsen for various misdemeanors and violations, also voted an indictment charging seven counts of Coercion in the First Degree, a class D Felony offense.
The case is being prosecuted by Executive Assistant District Attorney Richard K. Moran.
