Once the village is dissolved, there will be no village-level layer of local government. The town of Orangetown will be providing services.

According to an analysis, for which the village paid, municipal services such as clerk, police, public works, building inspections and planning and zoning would be taken over by Orangetown.

Schools, fire and EMS departments, water and sewer would remain unchanged.

Residents would have to pay for their own garbage collection, but the study found a median property owner would save $1,400 a year in taxes.

Had the vote failed, the village would be prohibited from considering another petition for dissolution for four years.

The movement to dissolve the village started after Nyack College sold much of its campus to a Ramapo-based yeshiva.
