
A man robbed a Shirley bank on Monday morning and police believe the same man is also behind a bank robbery in Mastic last week.
According to police, the man entered Empire National Bank, located at 1044 William Floyd Parkway, at about 11 a.m. Monday and handed a teller a note demanding money and stating that he had a gun.
The teller complied with the man’s demands and the robber fled the bank on foot, police said.

The suspect was described as white, between 45 and 55 years old with a medium build and was wearing dark clothing.
Police believe the man also robbed the HSBC Bank, located at 1718 Montauk Highway in Mastic, on April 9.

The investigation into the two robberies is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
