Cops: Man Points Gun To Head on Hicksville Street
Two nearby schools went into temporary lockdown, police say.

A man spotted walking down a Hicksville street with a gun to his head prompted nearby schools to go into temporary lockdown on Monday, authorities said.
Nassau Police say the “distraught male” was walking near the vicinity of Straw Lane, with the gun pointed at his head at 2:30 p.m. He was apprehended without incident in a parking lot on Stewart Avenue and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The schools were temporarily on lockdown for precautionary reasons only, police said.

One of the schools, Dutch Lane, modified its dismissal as an extra precaution, with a police presence, according to the district’s website.
And students staying for after-school activities at Holy Trinity High School were told to remain inside after police notified officials, according to Newsday.

During the investigation, Stewart Avenue was closed from Levittown Parkway to Route 106 in both directions, police reported. The road was reopened after 5 p.m., Newsday reported.
