Coram Woman Steals Man's Wallet At Mini Mart: Police

The man whose wallet was snatched followed the Coram woman and identified her to police, authorities say.

CORAM, NY — A Coram woman was arrested after she stole a man's wallet in Riverhead, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Alice Burns, 50, was arrested on Sunday and charged with fourth degree grand larceny, a felony, police said.

A call came in at 8 p.m. about a robbery at the Stop and Go Mini Mart on West Main Street; the man said a woman had stolen the wallet, police said.

The Riverhead Police Department's detective division was notified and responded to assist in the investigation, police said.

The man, after realizing that his wallet had been taken, followed the suspect to the Flanders Road area where he identified the woman to officers, police said.

Burns was processed and held for arraignment in Riverhead Justice Court; Southampton Town Police and New York State Police assisted in the investigation, police said.
