Motorcyclist Killed After Crashing Into Tree: Police

The man lost control of his motorcycle before leaving the roadway and crashing, police said.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — A motorcyclist was killed after he crashed into a tree Friday evening in Port Jefferson, police said.

Jason Russo, 35, of Patchogue, was driving a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on Sheep Pasture Road near Willis Avenue when he lost control, went off the road and hit a tree around 6:45 p.m., police said.

Russo was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. The Suffolk County Police Department ask anyone with information about the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
