A Rocky Point deli was cited and a clerk arrested on Tuesday for selling alcohol to a minor serving as an undercover State Police operative, police said.
Aileen Griffin-Meruelo, 47, a clerk at Brugman’s Deli located at 287 Route 25A, was arrested and charged with unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage, police said. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
Ten other nearby businesses were also checked during the Underage Drinker Enforcement Operation conducted by the New York State Police Barracks in Riverside. They all refused to sell alcohol to the minor.
