Chris Herren to Speak on Basketball and Substance Abuse
Port Washington welcomes former Boston Celtics player Wednesday as he shares his story.

The Port Washington community is invited to see former Boston Celtics player Chris Herren speak about his harrowing descent into addiction and his recovery 15 years later. Herren will be at the Schreiber High School auditorium on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Herren was a high school All American at Durfee High School in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Considered among the best high school players at the time, he was highly recruited by all the major programs in the country before realizing his dream of playing professional basketball for the Denver Nuggets and Boston Celtics. All the while, he was dealing with the demons of substance abuse.

Herren was on the cover of Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated magazines, the focus of an acclaimed book, “Fall River Dreams” and the subject of the Emmy-nominated “Unguarded,” an ESPN film
The community is invited to join what promises to an inspiring presentation as Chris Herren shares his story with the hopes of reaching just one person and making a difference in his or her life.
