Man Indicted In 'Catastrophic' Jericho Crash That Killed 2 Nassau Teens: NCDA
The driver, impaired by alcohol and cocaine, killed two boys in what was "one of the worst" crashes ever seen on LI, DA Donnelly said.
MINEOLA, NY — The Roslyn man accused of killing two teenagers in a wrong-way crash in Jericho in May was indicted on aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said Monday.
Amandeep Singh, 34, pleaded not guilty and remains remanded, the DA said. He is due back in court on July 25 and faces a potential maximum of 32 years in prison if found guilty.
"Drew Hassenbein and Ethan Falkowitz were bright and athletic 14-year-olds with their entire lives in front of them until this defendant, allegedly impaired by both alcohol and cocaine, crashed his speeding pickup truck into their car — while driving the wrong way — and killed these two young men instantly," Donnelly said. "This catastrophic crash scene was one of the worst we’ve ever seen here on Long Island, and the alleged reckless actions of this defendant have created a ripple effect throughout the Roslyn community. Our condolences are with Drew and Ethan’s countless family members, classmates, and friends, as we vigorously prosecute this case."

Singh was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram TRX south in the northbound lanes of North Broadway in Jericho while speeding around 10:20 p.m. May 3, Donnelly said. Singh collided with an Alfa Romeo with four teenagers inside, officials said.
The impact killed Hassenbein and Falkowitz instantly, authorities said. The boys were seated in the right side of the car, officials said.

Singh drove away but was apprehended nearby by Nassau police officers, prosecutors said. Singh was hiding near a dumpster in the parking lot of a shopping center near the crash site, Donnelly said.
The two other teenagers in the Alfa Romeo were taken to the hospital and are recovering from their injuries, the DA said.
Hassenbein and Falkowitz were Roslyn Middle School students and tennis players.
They were heading home from a restaurant after a tennis competition when they were hit by Singh, police said, Fox Sports reported. Both boys played on the Roslyn tennis team, and Hassenbein was a nationally ranked tennis player, ranked 38th in the United States for players under 14.
After the initial collision, police said the Alfa Romeo then struck a 2023 Volvo, occupied by a 49-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy. They were treated at the scene for minor injuries and released, police said.
Fundraisers were set up by the families of Hassenbein and Falkowitz.
