Man Dies After Accidental Electrocution in His Oakdale Home

Man was found dead Tuesday evening with power tools nearby, police say.

A 75-year-old Oakdale man was found dead in his home Tuesday evening, a victim of an apparent accidental electrocution, police said.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of Erhard Mueller, who was discovered by a family member in the basement of his home at 214 Connetquot Drive around 6:45 p.m., police said.

Mueller, who was found with power tools in close proximity to his body, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The house was full of smoke when Mueller was found and his body was surrounded by melted tools and wires, Newsday reported.
