A Match Made In Sayville

When you’re staging a musical as brilliantly eccentric as The Addams Family, the wardrobe can’t just be standard theatrical fare—it needs to breathe history, character, and a touch of the beautifully macabre. That’s exactly why, just over a week ago, the team at the CM Performing Arts Center took a little field trip down to Sayville to visit a local treasure: Paper Doll Vintage Boutique.

I had the pleasure of tagging along with an absolute dream team: our Resident Costume Designer, who is also pulling double duty as the Director and Choreographer for the show, Jojo Minasi; our CEO & President, Marc Hollid-Ausset; and our Executive Artistic Director, Alyse Nicole Arpino. The moment we stepped through the doors, we were warmly greeted by Dominique Maciejka, the brilliant owner of Paper Doll, and immediately transported into a curated wonderland of fashion history.

Dominique’s boutique is a goldmine for anyone who appreciates the artistry of decades past, and courtesy of her generosity, we are bringing some of that authentic magic to the stage. Working closely with Jojo’s visionary design, a few standout costume pieces featured in our upcoming production of The Addams Family have been pulled directly from Paper Doll’s incredible vintage findings. Seeing Jojo and Dominique collaborate amidst the racks of gorgeous, time-tested garments was a true behind-the-scenes thrill. But here is the best part for our eagle-eyed vintage lovers in the audience: once the curtain falls on our final performance, those exact costume pieces will be returning to Paper Doll and will be available for purchase. You literally have the chance to take home a piece of the show’s history!

The collaboration doesn’t stop at the wardrobe racks, either. If you are planning on joining the Addams clan for the spookiest time of the year, you are in for a treat. Paper Doll Vintage Boutique will officially be sponsoring the costume contests at the CM Performing Arts Center this Halloween!
