Nor'easter to Bring Heavy Rain, Wind to Wantagh-Seaford

National Weather Service issues hazardous weather outlook.

A nor’easter may dump three inches of rain on Long Island starting Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region that warns of “moderate coastal flooding” from the storm, which will also bring strong winds to the island.

A slow moving coastal storm will affect the region Monday night through Tuesday night with heavy rain and strong winds. Although there is still some uncertainty on timing...intensity...And track of this low pressure system...There is a low potential for moderate coastal flooding during the times of high tide Monday morning and tuesday morning. In addition...A prolonged period of moderate to high easterly swells and high storm tides through mid week will likely cause significant beach erosion and likely wash-over issues at the barrier beaches.

  • Tonight- Mostly clear, with a low around 25. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Northeast wind 13 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
  • Monday- A chance of rain or drizzle after 3pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 35. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Northeast wind 13 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Monday Night- Rain, mainly after midnight. Temperature rising to around 41 by 1am. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Northeast wind 9 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday- Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 44. Wind chill values between 30 and 35. Breezy, with a northeast wind 20 to 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
  • Tuesday Night- Rain. Low around 38. Breezy, with a north wind 17 to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
