WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Lin-Manuel Miranda's film adaptation of "In The Heights" will have its summer premiere after all, just a year later than originally scheduled, according to reports.

Warner Bros. has announced a new release date of June 18, 2021 for the Washington Heights-based movie, which, like many movies, had its June 2020 release date postponed last month because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Miranda promised an Uptown premiere of the movie when it does premiere.

The news comes after "In The Heights" filmed at several neighborhood spots last month and over the summer.

A trailer that came out in December shows that many Washington Heights landmarks will be featured in the film, which is an adaptation of the musical that won Miranda a Tony Award in 2008.

Movie theaters in New York and across the country have closed as states put in stay-at-home orders to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. New York's stay-at-home order was most recently extended to May 15.
