No Injuries Reported in Quiogue House Fire

The fire occurred on Saturday morning.

Local firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged a house on Jennifers Path in Quiogue early Saturday morning, according to the Westhampton Beach Fire Department.

The department received a report of a structure fire at about 12:40 a.m.. The caller advised dispatch his car was on fire and was in close proximity to the house.

After the department put out the vehicle fire, a search team immediately entered the structure to perform searches and check for extension.

The fire started in the car that was in the driveway before it extended to the side of the building, into the roof’s attic space and behind the knee wall.

Search teams on the second floor, using Thermal Imaging Cameras, were able to see the extension and notify command.

Additional members were then sent upstairs to start pulling the ceilings and walls to extinguish the fire.

Upon arrival of additional manpower from the Quogue Fire Department, Easport Fire Department and East Quogue Fire Department, a second handline was stretched and additional firefighters with hooks were sent to the second floor.

Members were then able to get ahead and completely put out the fire.

The fire was extinguished within the hour although the departments remained on scene until 3 a.m.

The homeowner was inside the house but got up injured, according to 27east. No additional injuries have been reported.

The Southampton Town Fire Marshals Office is investigating what started the fire. The Southampton Town Police Department was also on scene.
