• Buxton beach nourishment project expected to begin week of July 27; groin repair to start in August (islandfreepress.org) — Buxton’s major beach nourishment is now slated to start the week of July 27, following the recent completion of Avon’s own nourishment project. Dare County has also approved dune-planting work tied to both Avon and Buxton, aiming to stabilize new dunes, protect N.C. 12, and strengthen long-term shoreline resilience for Hatteras Island communities.
