Woman trying to evade parking fee crashed and injured 8, Virginia Beach police say (theoaklandpress.com) — Eight people were hurt when a car crashed into the outdoor patio of Murphy’s Irish Pub at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, and police say the driver was trying to skip a parking garage fee. The 21-year-old Norfolk-based Navy service member is charged with reckless driving, being held without bond in Virginia Beach city jail, and due in General District Court this week.

Bands in the Sand concert series to debut at Virginia Beach Oceanfront (13newsnow.com) — Free “Bands in the Sand” concerts are coming to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront, with 11 Thursday evening shows on the sand near the Fishing Pier from May 7 through October 8. Organized with the City of Virginia Beach, the family-friendly series will feature national and regional acts, start at 6 p.m., and is expected to draw crowds, so residents are urged to plan parking and seating ahead.

Detectives linked her to the April 17 incident using security video, and she now faces serious attempted murder and robbery-related charges, which may interest Virginia Beach residents following crime involving locals elsewhere.
