1. Humane Society of Eastern Carolina to host 25th Annual Canine Crawl (wnct.com) — Greenville pet lovers can mark their calendars for the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina's 25th Annual Canine Crawl, set for Sunday, October 4, at Wildwood Park. The free, family-friendly fundraiser runs from noon to 3 p.m., with registration required for those walking with pets, and helps support animals currently in HSEC's care while celebrating a long-running community tradition. 
2. Greenville man jailed after alleged stalking and break-in despite protective order (wcti12.com) — A Greenville man is being held without bond in the Pitt County Detention Center after deputies charged him with felony stalking, breaking and entering to terrorize or injure, and multiple violations of a domestic violence protective order. Warrants allege he repeatedly called a woman and unlawfully entered her home despite a court order issued in Pitt County on July 3.
3. Man pleads guilty in 2023 Planet Fitness murder (witn.com) — A 20-year-old Winterville man has pleaded guilty in the 2023 shooting death of Jayden Harrison outside the Planet Fitness in Greenville, bringing a high‑profile local murder case closer to closure. He admitted to second‑degree murder and an unrelated attempted murder in Winterville, receiving a state prison sentence of more than 32 years with credit for time served.
4. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Board hires veteran airport official as new executive director (wvia.org) — A longtime Greenville airport leader has been hired to run the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, highlighting the experience he gained at Pitt-Greenville Airport Authority. Kim "Bill" Hopper, who retired from Pitt-Greenville in June, will start his new five-year post November 1 with a $150,000 starting salary after being unanimously chosen by the airport board.
5. Mountaineers' golf finish third at Quail Hollow (theappalachianonline.com) — App State women's golf opened its season with a strong third-place finish in Charlotte and will soon be heading to Greenville. The team is set to compete at the Pirate Collegiate Classic here September 14–15, giving local fans a chance to see several top-performing Mountaineers, including a recent individual runner-up, in action.
